Experience and Expertise
I bring over 10 years’ experience in marketing and communications within the charity sector, working across health, environmental and community organisations including Tenovus Cancer Care, Keep Wales Tidy, and Foothold Cymru. In these roles, I have led communications activity at a senior level, shaping organisational messaging, supporting leadership teams, and delivering campaigns and projects that strengthen profile and engagement. For example, I have led high-profile fundraising and awareness campaigns, coordinated large-scale events, and taken ownership of communications strategy and delivery across multiple regions within West Wales.
A key strength of my experience is developing and delivering strategic, values-driven communications. At Foothold Cymru, I proposed and led a full organisational rebrand, creating a clear, story-led narrative that better reflects the communities the organisation serves. This work involved engaging internal stakeholders, redefining messaging, and ensuring that the organisation’s values were consistently communicated across all outputs. The rebrand has since strengthened engagement and improved how the organisation connects with its audiences. I am confident in translating organisational vision into practical communications plans, and ensuring these are delivered effectively through campaigns, content, and day-to-day communications activity.
I have extensive experience managing communications across digital, print and internal channels. I have overseen website content, social media platforms, newsletters, and printed materials, ensuring consistency in tone, accessibility, and branding. At Foothold Cymru, I embedded organisation-wide brand standards and improved the quality and consistency of communications outputs, resulting in a more professional and engaging experience for service users and stakeholders. I am confident creating and commissioning content that works across multiple platforms and reaches diverse audiences.
I have acted as a key media contact, building strong relationships with regional and national press and securing impactful coverage. For example, while working at Keep Wales Tidy, I secured national BBC coverage for a Guinness World Record charity event, significantly raising awareness of the organisation’s work. More recently, at Foothold Cymru, we hosted BBC Radio Wales and BBC Wales on location to report on the cost-of-living crisis, helping to highlight the challenges faced by the communities we support. Alongside this, I have supported senior colleagues with messaging and media engagement, ensuring communications are clear, consistent and aligned with organisational values.
I also bring strong experience in managing websites and social media platforms, with a focus on audience engagement and performance. I regularly use insight and analytics to understand what content resonates, refining messaging and approach to improve reach and impact. I place particular importance on creating visually engaging, accessible content and maintaining a consistent brand identity, ensuring that digital channels effectively support organisational goals and audience growth.
